Christmas Tree Skirt

As I put the skirt around the Christmas Tree I am reminded just how long I have loved stitching.  I made this tree skirt when I was pregnant with my son.  Dustin is now 27, oh my now I feel old.

How many colors of green?

Do you try out thread colors before you start quilting?

First you have to decide if you want your thread to blend in or enhance your quilt.

Building Quilts

Thanksgiving Lace

My Thanksgiving weekend was wonderful. I spent it in Greenville Sc with my daughter and new son-in-law.
Rather than do any crazy black Friday shopping my Daughter And I visited her favorite pedicure spot and relaxed a bit.  Afterwards she took me to some of her best finds.  Resale Shops.
My most wonderful find was this bag of vintage lace. I spent all of $3.00.
My next find was a vintage oversized brown jacket. I plan to use the lace and other fun embellishments to make it fun.  More on that later.

Flying Geese

How do you create your flying greese?
I love to use half square triangles. It gives me the opportunity to mix and match even more fabrics.

Fearless Fabric Painting

I think this is fearless fabric painting at its best. This fabric was painted by Betty Fortner's 5 year old granddaughter. Betty created a great pillow from her fabrics.

Tiny Crazy blocks

My Tiny Crazy Quilts

I had to wait to post these picture.  My Daughters birthday present.

The two crazy quilt blocks are only 2 inches square.  I did a photo on fabric for the centers.  I found a glass pendant to place the two small pieces in.  Now she can wear her crazy quilt.

Vintage Photo's on Fabric

I have been working with some vintage photo printing on cotton.  Centered the pictures in a Wonky Log Cabin style block.

My Granny in the Top Photo, Her mother in the center Photo and Granny with siblings on the bottom photo.

I have added a border and started some embellishing with rust dye lace.  Wonder what else I will do.

Photo Quilt

Making New look old again.
I love this quilt, fun pictures but they are not old, I used a Sepia tone to print them giving them a vintage look.  For fabrics I chose off white, and black w/ cream or tan.
Printing on fabric is so easy now with prepared printables, load in your inkjet printer and print.

The quilt design is from my Crazy shuffle book, it has great blocks for replacing prints with Photo's

Organizing the Studio

When folding fabric to go on the shelf I use my six inch ruler and wrap the fabric around it. After wrapping, the fabric easily slides off the ruler. I then fold this in half. This creates a perfect size fold to fit on my shelf.
